Frequently Asked Question

General questions

By following the steps below, you can quickly and easily create an account with VH Auctions. Creating an account ensures that you can bid on our active auctions. You can create an account as follows:

  1. Click “My account” at the top.

  2. Click “Register”.

  3. Enter your personal details and choose a password.

  4. Click “Register” again at the bottom.

  5. You will see a pop-up to confirm your registration.

Then:

  1. Enter your mobile phone number again.

  2. Enter the code you received.
Didn’t receive a code? Don’t try again—call 03 246 22 29 from the mobile number you want to register, so we can validate your account manually.

  3. Open the email you received from us in your mailbox.

  4. Click the link in the email.

  5. Your account is confirmed. You are ready to bid on our auctions.

Unfortunately, our security does not allow adding two email addresses to one account. You therefore need to create a second account. Please note: you cannot use the same email address and phone number twice.

Forgot your password? No problem—use these steps to change it easily:

  1. Click “My account” at the top right.

  2. Click “Log in”.

  3. Under the “Password” field, click “Forgot password”.

  4. Enter your email address.

  5. You will receive an email with a link.

  6. Click the link in the email.

  7. Enter your new password and confirm it again. Your password is now changed.

Bidding in the auction

Before you can bid, you must have an account with VH Auctions. Already have an account? Then you only need to log in via the “Log in” button at the top right. After entering your details, you can place bids. If you don’t have an account yet, see “1. Account.”

Follow these steps to bid on your favorite item(s):

    1. Go to an ongoing auction.

    2. Once you are in the auction, you can start bidding. We offer two options: a static bid or a proxy bid.

      • With a static bid, you choose when you want to bid and how high the bid is.

      • A proxy bid is a maximum amount you are willing to bid. If someone bids above your bid, the system will continue bidding for you up to your set maximum.

    3. When the time is up and you are the highest bidder, you are almost the owner of the item.

In addition to the standard VAT (21%), you pay auction fees. These are 17%, unless stated otherwise. We call this the buyer’s premium. The buyer’s premium is then increased again by 21% VAT, unless stated otherwise.

Example:

Suppose you bid €100 on an item.

  • You pay 21% VAT on this: €21.

  • Then 17% buyer’s premium is added to the €100: €17.

  • On this €17, you again pay 21% VAT: €3.57.

Total: €141.57.

When you want to place a bid, click “View bid”. Don’t worry—your bid has not been placed yet. You will see a total overview of the price and can then confirm your bid by clicking “Place bid.”

When a lot is subject to award, it is not yet definitively confirmed whether the lot may actually be sold. For example, it may concern goods that are (partly) owned by third parties, so it must first be checked whether the sale is lawful. Only after the auctioneer confirms this can the lot be definitively awarded and therefore sold.

On the first working day after you have won a bid, you will receive the pro-forma invoice. This must be paid immediately via bank transfer. Please take into account the details that must be stated, such as your customer and note number. No later than two weeks after the goods are handed over, you will receive the final invoice.

A takeover of a business (trade fund) follows a specific procedure and cannot be done via our auction website. If you are interested in a takeover, you can contact us at info@vhauctions.be, unless stated otherwise. Regarding the offer: it must be in line with market value.

Invoice and payments

If you are the highest bidder in one of our ongoing auctions, you will first receive a pro-forma invoice. You must pay this before you can collect the goods. No later than two weeks after you have received the materials, we will send the final invoice.

The purchase is subject to VAT. For foreign buyers within the EU, you pay VAT on the first purchase. Once your VAT number is verified as correct, we credit the VAT amount. This amount is then refunded to your account. If you make another purchase later at VH Auctions, you do not have to pay VAT again.

Viewing days and collecting goods

Viewing days and collection days are always scheduled during our office hours. We are open on working days from 08:00 to 17:00. On Fridays we have adjusted opening hours from 08:00 to 15:00.

Please note: for some viewing days or collection days, an appointment is required. You can easily find them on our website:

  1. Click on the auction you are interested in.

  2. Under the auction name you will see “Viewing days”. There you will find the dates of the viewing days.

You can find the collection day(s) in the same way—these are listed next to the viewing days.

Unfortunately, that is not possible. However, you may authorize another person to collect the goods. They only need to present the pro-forma invoice as proof. If you do not collect the goods, the goods will remain on site.

We ask you to prepare for collecting your goods and to provide sufficient handling equipment, manpower, and transport. There is no guarantee that tools will be available to load/transport your goods.
